Mark Wasserbach, 65, of Nassau, NY, passed away on June 11th, 2023. He passed peacefully in his sleep.
Mark was born on April 24th, 1958, to William and Annie Wasserbach. An artistic and independent spirit from day one, Mark was lucky enough to have parents who fully supported and embraced his individuality. He was given room to embrace his talents and was always inventing or creating new things.
Eventually, he decided to pursue a career in antiques and would go on to become one of the pioneers in bringing the antique district to Hudson, NY. Later in life, he began creating sculptures from found objects and industrial pieces and quickly rose in the community as a talented artist. With these two lifelong passions, he leaves behind a legacy as one of the most knowledgeable and innovative people in the industry, and those who knew him will vouch for his incredible work ethic, positive attitude, integrity and the beautiful, unique way he saw the world.
Mark will be greatly missed by his two daughters, Kera and Laura Wasserbach, his siblings Bill, Linda, Mary and Greg, his nieces and nephews, his long-time business partner and best friend, Larry Forman and his former spouse and mother of his children, Deborah Prime.
Mark was an unmatched individual in every way. He had the ability to make everyone around him feel welcome and at ease. He was constantly supportive of people’s ambitions and dreams, especially those of his daughters. The loss of his presence is felt by all who knew him.
Those who wish to pay their respects are invited to visit with Mark’s family on Friday, June 16th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, with a brief service to follow for those who wish to remain. Burial on Saturday, June 17th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Cemetery for family and close friends.
