Alonzo John Carpenter, 81, of Mims Florida, a former 32 year resident of Nassau NY, passed away at his home on Saturday September 28th. Born in Albany he was the son of the late Alonzo L. and Beatrice (Pratt) Carpenter. He faithfully served our country and was a veteran of the United States Navy. John was a painter and paper hanger with local #201. He was also a former member of the Nassau Town Board and former member of the Nassau Sportsman Club.

John is survived by his loving wife M. Agnes (Devlin) Carpenter of Florida, sons, John F. Carpenter of Albany and James A. Carpenter of Peru NY, sister, Patricia Fisher of Oneonta NY, grandchildren, Christopher J., Jon-Michael, James A. Jr. and Patrick J. Carpenter, great-grandchild, Aidan Carpenter. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by his brother, Donald Carpenter.

Funeral service from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau NY, on Thursday October 3rd at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5:00-8:00pm. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
