Catherine Joan Haley

Catherine "Kate" Haley, 87, of Mary Esther, Florida, formerly of Western Road in Castleton, passed away on August 28, 2023 at her home surrounded by family and friends. Born on July 31, 1936 to William and Edna Sutherland, Kate married the love of her life Edward J. Haley Jr. on April 5, 1958. She worked for many years as a medical coder for Travelers Insurance Company before her retirement.

Kate enjoyed sewing and cooking and her greatest talent was cooking a whole meal from the sofa. She embroidered many peices of clothing and several beautiful wall hangings. She was predeceased by her husband Edward J. Haley Jr.; daughter, Shannon Lynn Wilbur; son, Stephen Shane Haley and her adopted son-in-law Paul Colvin.

She is survived by her children Colleen (Reggie) Gardner, Michael (Laura) Haley, Maureen (Chris) Van Duesen and son-in-law Donnie Wilbur; grandchildren, Joseph (Elizabeth) Carlotti, David (Sarah) Eames, Krystal (Brad Lee) Molitor, Devin (Michael) Spinelli, Brianna (Keith) Jennings, Zachary Haley, Joseph Van Duesen, Jr. and her adoptive granddaughter Aria Keegan; great grandchildren, Aiden Carlotti, Hunter Jennings, Madison Molitor, Macoy Molitor, Jacob Jennings, and two more on the way in 2024. She is also survived by one sister Edna Brown, nieces and nephews, Sharon (Buddy) Vincent, Gary (Kim) Lynch, Kathleen Colvin, Trish Ellsworth, William Jensen and Ginger as well as her friends and caregivers Bethany and Ralph Keegan.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau, on Friday, Sept. 8, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, Sept. 9, at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Horizon View Cemetery, Castleton. A reception will follow the interment at the America Legion Melvin Roads Post 1231, 200 Columbia Turnpike Rensselaer NY, 12144.
