Stuyvesant- Dane E. Kirkland, of Stuyvesant, passed away on June 11, 2026, at the Delmar Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. He was 75 years old.
Born on October 27, 1950, in Albany, New York, Dane was the son of the late Myrtle J. Begley and Edwin Goold. He was later lovingly raised by his adoptive father, Grant "Tex" Kirkland.
Dane grew up in Watervliet and was a graduate of Shaker High School and Hudson Valley Community College. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for 14 years, working in Military Intelligence. Following his military service, he dedicated many years to public service with the New York State Office of Professional Licensing, from which he retired.
Dane was predeceased by his parents; his adoptive father, Grant "Tex" Kirkland; his aunts, Genevieve Blood and Shirley Liberty Bell; and his cousins, Scott Blood and J.B. Blood.
He is survived by his loving daughters, April (Tim) Albertson and Heather (Terry Connors) Kirkland; he was "Poppy" to his cherished grandchildren, Breanna Albertson and Duncan Connors; his brothers, Todd (Julie) Kirkland and John (Alice) Kirkland; his cousins, Jeff Blood, Shelley (Jim) Hoover, and Terri Ristau Crowmer; and his loving girlfriend, Nadine; and is his ex-wife and friend Ann Marie Waldron.
Services for Dane will be held privately by the family, at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
