Nassau- Darron C. O'Connor, 58, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, August 19, 2025.
Born on July 19, 1967, in Newton, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Edward R. O'Connor and Ellen R. O'Connor (nee Redding).
Darron graduated from Tunkhannock Area High School and then proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. After his time in the service, he moved back home to Pennsylvania where he resided for many years. In recent years he moved to Nassau to be closer to his lifelong best friend, John Chuley, and his wife, Christine, who were his extended family.
Darron was always willing to help - friend, family, or a complete stranger, especially if it involved an automotive issue. As a mechanic he could fix anything and explain even the most complex issue in simple terms. He had many customers that followed him wherever he worked because of his honesty and workmanship.
A true automotive enthusiast, he could talk for hours about cars and motorcycles. He especially loved his self-restored Oldsmobile 442 and his Harley Davidson. He followed NASCAR faithfully and was a dedicated New York Giants fan. Darron enjoyed classic rock music, playing chess, working on puzzles and model cars. Friends and family will remember him as a fantastic cook who loved to bring people together with his meals. His beloved dog, Sadie, was always by his side.
In addition to his parents, Darron was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Mark Deal and nephew, Cory Deal. He is survived by his siblings: Kevin O'Connor, Brian (Kristen) O'Connor, Kristin (late Mark) Deal, Keith (Tracie) O'Connor, and Karin (Jim Corey) O'Connor; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends who will miss him dearly.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
