Donna Marie Johnson

Nassau- Donna Marie (Puzio) Johnson, 72, of Nassau, passed away peacefully at Albany Medical Center on May 16, 2026 surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous fight that she faced with incredible strength, faith, and grace.

Donna "DJ" was the heart of her family; a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome. She was deeply kind, approachable, full of love, with a dry sense of humor and perfectly timed one-liners that could make anyone laugh.

She dedicated many years of her life working for the East Greenbush CSD Transportation Department until her retirement in 2013, but her greatest work was always caring for others. A true advocate for disabled adults, DJ was devoted to keeping her autistic son at home and developed a program that fit his needs and enriched both of their lives. Her patience, compassion, and fierce love were an example to everyone who knew her.

A lifelong Christian, DJ's faith guided her through every season of life. She loved family picnics, bird watching, planting flowers, spending time with church friends, and simply being surrounded by the people she loved most.

Donna is predeceased by her parents, Stanley and Myrtle Puzio; and brother Steve Puzio. She leaves behind her beloved husband of fifty three years, Leroy Johnson; children, Russell Johnson, Mark (Janelle) Johnson, Kristy (Justin) Riccio and Sara (Jason) Guzman; grandchildren, Natalie, Charlie, Ruby, Annabelle, Avery, Aiden, Neala and Liana; siblings, Darlene, Ken and Denise; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Donna's family from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau, NY 12123. A funeral service to celebrate Donna's extraordinary life will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at the West Stephentown Baptist Church, 1672 RT-43 Stephentown, NY 12169. Interment will immediately follow the funeral service at Friends Burial Ground at Rayville, County Route 13, Rayville, NY.
