Herman Kosegarten

Herman Albrecht Kosegarten, 98, of Nassau died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Albany Memorial Hospital. He was born in 1912 to Albrecht and Ada (Bedell) Kosegarten. Herman lived his entire life in Nassau and was a devoted friend to many in the community. He retired from Huyck Felt Company in Rensselaer in 1970 and from the N.Y.S. Department of Taxation and Finance in 1977. He was a life member of the Columbia Car Club and enjoyed antique automobiles. He and his wife loved going to car shows where he won many awards with his car "Ruby". His greatest love was family and was a devoted husband to his wife Myrtle (Robinson) of 73 years and a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife, a son, Dr. David C. (Marie) Kosegarten, daughter, Mary Ellen (Michael) Brennan; grandchildren, Susan (Aaron) Westfall, Patrick (Whitney) Brennan, Cheryl Kosegarten and Marie J. Kosegarten, Esq.. Herman is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Nathan, Abigail, Noah, and Josiah Westfall, and Teagan and Samuel Brennan and several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau, Monday, April 18 at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Sunday, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Interment in Nassau Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the J.C. Club Children's Feeding Center in care of Victory Christian Church, 118 Quail Street Albany NY 12206.
