Janice M. Munson

Janice M. Munson, 66, of Rensselaer, NY, passed into the eternal peace of her lord on January 16, 2026, surrounded by loving family and friends. Born on February 14, 1959, to her late parents Harvey Munson Sr. and Joan (Munson) Clewell, she was predeceased by her adopted son Lucas Cook, and her two sisters Linda and Joan Munson. Janice is survived by her children Michael (Tiffani) Munson, and Chantel (Gary) Benson, sisters Deborah Munson, and Michele (Munson) (Michael) Peart, brother Harvey (Lara) Munson Jr., grandchildren Savanna, Alijah, and Joseph, and great grandchildren Hinata and Noah. She is also survived by her Godson David Sherrod, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and her dearest friends Nancy Harwood and Mary Follett.

Janice worked many jobs before finding her true calling of 30 years caring for the elderly. She was a collector of vintage antiques, enjoyed crafting meaningful gifts for those she cared about, and had a passion for gardening she so proudly shared with her community. Janice's devotion to God and her faith and the wisdom she shared, will remain in the hearts of those who were privileged to know her.

"I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don't be troubled or afraid. Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really loved me, you would be happy that I am going to the Father, who is greater than I am."-John 14:27-28

A funeral service for Janice will be held at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau, on May 12 at 3:30 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to call prior to the service from 2-3:30 p.m. Inurnment will immediately follow the funeral service in New Rural Cemetery, 3rd Avenue Ext. Rensselaer.
