Niskayuna- Jeannine Hotaling, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 14, 2025, following a long illness. She was the second child born to Cecelia and Barthelemy Dussault in Lewiston, Maine in 1936. When she was three years old, her family moved to Nassau Lake, where she spent her childhood with her sister and brothers. She graduated from Columbia High School in 1954, and worked for the New York Telephone Company until 1958, when she left to raise her family.
She married the love of her life, Raymond Hotaling, in 1957 at St. Mary's, and they raised their children, Debby and Michael, in her childhood home. After her children were grown, Ray and Jeannine moved to Colonie, where they lovingly cared for her parents in a beautiful in-law apartment that Ray designed and Jeannine decorated. Jeannine loved to tend to her lawn and flowers, and cars would frequently stop to see the beautiful lawn. She also went to work as a part-time sales associate at Tri-City Luggage in Colonie, where she had great fun with the younger staff there. Later in life, Jeannine had a beautiful apartment at Ingersoll Place, where she lived for ten years.
In addition to her parents, Jeannine was predeceased by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Ray; her son, Michael; her siblings, Connie, Gerard and Claude, and her daughter-in-law, Darlene. She is survived by her loving daughter, Debra; her special Godson, Douglas J. Hotaling; her honorary daughters, Karolee Moore and Lynda Beth Raffuel; and a host of other friends and family.
The family wishes to thank the amazing staff of Ingersoll Place, who cared for Jeannine like family for ten years. Also, the caring staff at Ellis Hospital, and the wonderful staff at Glendale Home Rehabilitation, who, along with Community Hospice, saw her through to her end.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jeannine's Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 26 Church Street, Nassau, NY 12123. Following the Mass, she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at St. Mary's Cemetery, Route 203 Nassau, NY 12123. There will be no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Jeannine's memory may make a charitable donation to Ingersoll Place, 3359 Consaul Rd., Niskayuna, NY, 12304.
