Jerry J. Freemantle

Nassau- Jerry J. Freemantle, a lifelong resident of Nassau, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 12, 2026.

Born in Troy on November 5, 1948, Jerry was the son of the late Joseph Freemantle and Ruth Gilbert Freemantle. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post #1268.

For many years, Jerry was a self-employed plumber in Nassau, serving his community through his hard work and dedication to his trade.

Jerry enjoyed spending time tinkering and working on projects in his shop. He took great pride in his vegetable garden and especially loved growing gladiolas. An animal lover at heart, Jerry found great enjoyment in feeding and watching the deer that visited his property.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was predeceased by his siblings, Eugene Freemantle, Josephine Baker, and Thelma Hansen.

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Maureen E. (Stager) Freemantle; his son, David Freemantle; his daughter, Wendy (Bob) Boria; his stepson, Jeff (Elisa) Mergel; and his dear friends, Dave and Linda Dowd.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jerry's family from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau, NY 12123. A eulogy will be offered at 5:00 p.m. Interment with United States Army Honors will immediately follow the eulogy at St. Mary's Cemetery, Route 203 Nassau, NY 12123.
