Pittsfield- Kenneth W. Nurnberg was born January 9, 1947, and passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 79 years old in Pittsfield, MA. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a longtime resident of Nassau, NY, where he enjoyed his retirement, especially walking his dog, Princess. He also loved racing at Lebanon Valley Speedway and could often be found there on weekends with friends and family.
He will be remembered by many family members, and he leaves behind his loving older brother, Richard Nurnberg, and his two sons. He will be forever missed by his oldest son and his son's wife, Jamie and Sherri Nurnberg, of Pittsfield, MA. He will also be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Ashley, Lauren, Jeremy, and Madison. He will also be greatly missed as "Grandpa Bigs" by his great-grandchildren: Lyllieanna, Aerianna, William, and Melanie. He will also be forever missed by his younger son and his son's wife, Jonathan and Amanda Nurnberg, of Schuylerville, NY. He will be greatly missed as "Pops" by his grandchildren: Michael, Alexandra, Katie, Ryan, and Arianna.
Memorial services will be on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 111 Academy Street, Greenwich, NY. Military honors and inurnment will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY.
The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the following veterans organizations: Homes for Our Troops, Gary Sinise Foundation, Fisher House Foundation, Soldier's Angels, Navy SEAL Foundation, Bob Woodruff Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project, Operation Homefront, and Adopt a Soldier.
