NASSAU - Mary Ann (Rice) Pearce , 79, surrounded by her loving family, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 1, 2012. Ann was born in Malone to the late Nora (Keenan) and William J. Rice. She is predeceased by her brother, Donald Rice, and two nephews. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Elaine Rice, of Baytown, TX, as well as two nieces, and a number of cousins.

Ann is also survived by her beloved family. Children: Eva Pearce of Troy, NY, Jeffrey Pearce of Conway, SC,anddaughter-in-law Karen (Dave) Disonell; Grandchildren: Robert Murdick, Jr., William Pearce, Jeffrey (Carrie) Pearce, Jr., Dana (Mike) Pearce, Maria (Jeff) Murdick, Brian (Ginger) Pearce, Dawn(Chris) Pearce, Erica(Mark) Pearce, James Pearce, Amanda Pearce; and Great-grandchildren: Braden, Daniel, Joseph, Bryant, Katelyn, Eli, Ella, Makenna, and Jack. Also survived by her loyal dog, Salem.

Ann was a devout communicant at St. Mary's Church, Nassau, and a member of the Third Order of St. Francis. She worked for New York State for 39 years, the majority of those years with Tax and Finance.

Ann loved spending time with and laughing with,her family and friends. She was beloved by all. Ann had a great sense of humor. She was a caring, generous, compassionate, loyal, strong-willed, fiercely independent, and God-fearing woman who overcame many odds throughout her life.

The family extends sincere thanks to the many staffers, at the various hospitals, who provided compassionate care, especially RN's: Mercy, Kim, and Abby.

Viewing hours will be Friday, July 6, from 5 PM to 8 PM, at the Thomas P. Mooney, Funeral Home, 11 Elm St., Nassau. Funeral Mass, Saturday, July 7 at 10 AM. Interment will be in Malone, NY on Monday, July 9 at 12:30 PM.
