Mildred Scott

July 11, 1915 — July 17, 2014

Mildred (Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Millie,) Scott - Mrs. Moses to her Edward Swartz Senior family and Mil to her Barnwell Day Break family- has finished this leg of her 99 year journey and earned her right to rest on July 17, 2014. Born July 11, 1915 to Ernest and Jennie Worthy Banks, Millie lived her early life on Third Street in Albany, NY. After being courted and wooed by Charles E. Scott of New Jersey, they were married in 1933 and began their family. In 1936 they traveled the country road known as Route 20 and settled in the bustling Village of Nassau, NY.

Mildred and Charles cared for and nurtured their family of six children; along with Mildred's father and mother, at the 69 Church Street homestead.

During her life, Millie mourned the death of her husband Charles E in 1963, her son Charles A in 1987, her daughter Mildred A in 1988, her daughter Bessie M in 1998, her grandson Charles L Scott in 2004, her son Harold Hallenbeck in 2004, her son Oscar in 2011 and her daughter-in-law, Priscilla Scott in 2012- but, through it all she never lost her sense of humor and she remained strong and never wavering in her faith that she shared with her Grace Methodist family.

She leaves behind to celebrate, exemplify, and honor her life: her daughter Jeannette E. Scott of Nassau; her niece Virginia Andrews of New Jersey; her grandson Michael D. Scott, his wife Laney, and their children Michael Jr. and Nicholas all of Elks Grove, Ca.; Michael's daughter, Marquitta Scott and her son (Millie's great great grandson) Virgil Day of Buffalo, NY. She also leaves grandsons Curtis and Tony of Schenectady, Charles Lance's ex- fiancé -Sole' and their children, Jalissa and Charles Avery Scott all of Palm Bay , Florida, and Charles Lance's wife Rhonda Scott of Schenectady and their children: Flo, Ariel, Geavonni, LaJai and Nevaeh. Millie was the cherished great aunt of: Clee & Monique, Robin, Michelle, Debra, Jeffrey, Marvena, Sebastian, and Tyrone Banks of Albany. Ma Scott was cherished and loved by her "daughter" - Carol Olsen and was an extended family member of Amber and Mark Rohan, and Kathleen Irish all of Rensselaer. She will be remembered as a port in the storm to the "good girl" - Lois Kerr of Coconut Creek, Florida and a loving friend of Bonnie Pelton, her caregiver who has become a member of the family.

Millie was a communicant of the Grace Methodist Church of Nassau, belonging to the Willing Helpers and the church choir. Over the years she joined in on many activities for the children such as the progressive dinners. She was also a member of the East Greenbush School District "Stars" and thoroughly enjoyed helping the young people at the Donald P. Sutherland School until she was 92, the children kept her young and alive.

She was a social being embracing life and enjoying the company of other people. She was an avid dancer, who still "shook it" while wielding a cane or a walker. She laughed, loved and enjoyed her time on this Earth and has enriched those of us who knew her.

Mom, we will always love you and we will miss you more than words can say, but we will never, never forget the life lessons of LOVE and HUMOR that you have taught us. Thank you for including us all on your journey.

We must express our gratitude and appreciation to the devoted, uncompromising staff of the C1 unit at Van Rensselaer Manor.
