Nicholas Daloia

May 21, 1934 — June 13, 2025

Nicholas D. Daloia, 91, of Castleton passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on June 13, 2025. Born in Auburn to the late Domenick J. Daloia and Carmella (Finizio), he resided there until 1980. He served as a Marine for three years and was a military police officer. Nick then moved to Castleton to work for Red Star, as a dock hand.

He was one of the kindest, most honest, good-hearted, humble, and devoted husbands, fathers, and grandpas you could ask for. He cherished his family and all the time he spent with them-especially his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. Nick was married to the love of his life for sixty-seven beautiful years and loved every second of it.

He would make friends everywhere he went and could talk to strangers for hours. He was a genuine, warm, and welcoming individual. He was a huge fan of the Yankees and the Cleveland Browns and would not miss a game if he could help it.

In his younger years, he played football in high school, golfed, bowled, and played horseshoes. In his later years, he loved to "take a ride" to the casino, sit by the pool and watch his grandchildren, relax and watch Gunsmoke, and meet "the guys" at Stewarts for coffee.

He always loved making his Italian sauce for all of his family and friends and took great pride in it. He made his meatballs like no other! His silly mannerisms and bright smile will be missed the most. He loved life and appreciated every day he was here.

Nick will hold a special place in everyone's hearts that he touched, and he will never be forgotten. Until we all meet again, "kiddo."

He is survived by his wife, Mary Daloia; daughters, Cindi (Andy) Rings and Lisa Daloia; son, Robert (Kim) Daloia; brother, Joseph (Brenda) Daloia; grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) Church, Nichole (David) Ernst, David (Danielle) Farone, Nicholas (Arah) Daloia, and Shane (Taylor) Goehler; great-grandchildren, Kylee, Mason, Tegan, and Haelynn. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

There will be a private service for immediate family on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, which he supported frequently (www.stjude.org).

The family would like to thank Hospice for the kindness and compassion they demonstrated during this difficult time.
