Oscar G. Scott

Nassau

Oscar G. Scott, 54, from Nassau, NY residing in Waterford/Halfmoon for 16 years has cast his last fishing lure on this earthly pond after suddenly losing his courageous battle with lung cancer. "O" was born on April 28, 1956 to Charles E. and Mildred C. Scott (nee Banks) of Nassau, NY. He attended the East Greenbush Central school District and graduated from Columbia High. Oscar went on to achieve his certification as a welder and became a proud member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Union, Local #5 in Albany. All of those knowing Oscar knew his greatest love during this life was fishing, he was an avid fisherman who attended many bass tournaments throughout the Northeast. He was especially proud of his newly acquired boat and truck, which allowed him to fish anytime he wanted.

While mourning his passing, Oscar leaves behind to celebrate and honor his life: his mother, Mildred C. and sister Jeannette E. Scott of Nassau; sister in law, Priscilla Scott of Schenectady; first cousin, Virginia Andrews of Mt. Laurel, NJ; his nephew, Michael and wife Laney, and their sons Michael Jr. and Nicholas Scott all of Elks Grove, CA; great niece, Marquitta Scott and her son Virgil Day of Buffalo, NY; Sole Rojas, Jalissa and Avery Scott of Palm Bay FL; Rhonda, LaJai and Nevaeh Scott of Schenectady; and cousins; Clee and Monique, Naimah, Sebastian, Jeffery, Marvena, Robin, Aaron, Margo and Michelle Banks of Albany. He will also be missed by his cherished extended family: the Halfmoon "mooners", Carol Olsen, Mark and Amber Rohan, Kathleen Irish, and a host of old and new friends he caught in his net of humorous antics.

Oscar's dedication to his mother's welfare was his priority as he looked after and cared for her during her recent illness. He was a gentle man, with a sharp wit, whom we will all miss sorely.
