Remembering a Life of Love, Dedication, and Kindness

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Patricia Monsour Balcom, age 80 of Castleton, NY and Eastham, MA. Patricia departed this world as the result of injuries sustained in a fatal car accident, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, generosity, and unwavering love for her family, friends, coworkers, the East Greenbush School District and Hancock Shaker Village communities.

Pat's life was marked by her dedication to those she cherished. She was known for her kindness, her infectious smile, boisterous laugh and her ability to make everyone around her feel special. Pat's nurturing spirit touched countless lives.

Throughout her life, Pat found joy in teaching youngsters In the East Greenbush Central School District, working at Hancock Shaker Village, being active in local politics, and spending time with those she loved. She had a remarkable gift for finding humor in almost any situation.

Patricia's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She is survived by her husband Bob, stepchildren Derek Balcom and wife Meghan, Kimberly Balcom and husband Andy Lopez, grandchildren Jack, Iris, Ben and Oscar, and her pugs, Jackson and Rocket who will forever cherish her memory. Her spirit of kindness, her love of friends and family, and her incredible spirit will never be forgotten.

Viewing hours will be held on Sunday, November 16, 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St., Nassau, NY. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, Berkshire Humane Society, or the Animal Rescue League - Brewster Shelter in Patricia's honor, reflecting her lifelong commitment to and love of all creatures, especially dogs.

Though Patricia Monsour Balcom is no longer with us, her memory will live on through the lives she touched and the love she shared. May she rest in eternal peace.
