Robert "Bob" Paul Kosak of Nassau, NY, passed away in the early morning of Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA from cardiac arrest. Bob was 77 years old.
Bob was born on June 29, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY to Michael and Rose (Marnick) Kosak. A United States Marine Corps Active Reservist, Bob served from 1963-1968 and was honorably discharged at rank of Sergeant E5. Dedicating his life to serving at-risk children, Bob served as both a counselor and special education teacher at St. John's Residence for Boys. Once retired, Bob traveled around the world in his renewed Catholic faith, which included studying philosophy and theology at Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas in Rome and pilgrimaging to holy lands. A long-time resident of Rockaway Beach, Bob fell in love with the beauty of Upstate New York after visiting his daughter and decided to plant his own roots in Nassau. Bob was an active parishioner in the local Catholic community with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. Known to many, Bob was always willing to lend a hand or share his knowledge with others.
Bob was preceded in death by his father Michael F. Kosak and Rose M. Kosak. Bob is survived by his brothers Michael and John; his children Jenine, Kristine, and Thomas; and his grandchildren Ethan, Sadie, Amara, Keshava, Emma Rose, Caleb, and Adeline.
