Robert R. Hilton

Nassau- Robert R. Hilton, affectionately known as Bob or Bobby, died suddenly at his home on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the age of 67.  Born in Hudson, New York, on May 11, 1959, Bob was the son of the late Robert D. Hilton and Maryann (Bigelow) Hatch.

Bob proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for four years before being honorably discharged. Following his military service, he began a long career with the railroad, working for Conrail and later CSX. After many years of dedicated service, Bob retired in 2019.

An outdoorsman at heart, Bob was an avid hunter and fisherman who was happiest when surrounded by nature. He enjoyed metal detecting and foraging for wild mushrooms, pursuits that reflected both his curiosity and his appreciation for the outdoors. He was also an avid antique bottle collector and took great interest in the history and stories behind the pieces he discovered.

In his younger years, Bob especially enjoyed vacationing throughout Vermont and New Hampshire, where he could take in the mountains, forests, and quiet beauty of New England.

Bob also had a thoughtful and creative side. He was an avid reader and enjoyed writing poetry, finding in words another way to reflect upon the world around him.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his step-father, Richard P. Hatch, Sr.; his son, Robert D. Hilton; and his daughter, Danielle E. Hilton.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. (Bateman) Hilton; his son, Joshua (Karley) Hilton; his grandchildren, Madison Rose Marie Brown, Hudson James Hilton, and Jolene Hilton; his brother, Richard P. "RP" Hatch, Jr.; and his sisters, Cassandra and Melanie.

A graveside service will be held for Bob at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at the East Nassau Cemetery, Garfield Rd. East Nassau, NY
