Nassau- Robert Edward Sherman, Sr., 47, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Born on May 4, 1978, in Nassau, New York. Robert was the son of Ann M. Riganti (Vincent) and Robert Sherman. Siblings include RaeAnn and his late brother, Vincent. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles; extended family members; and all who knew him throughout the different seasons of his life.
After graduating from Columbia High School in 1996, he went on to hone his culinary skills at Endicott College in Beverly, Massachusetts, becoming a talented professional chef with the ability to create masterpieces out of empty cabinets. His legacy now moves forward with the accomplishment which brought him the most pride, his own family.
He is survived by his life partner, Candice; his ten children: Ciera Legan (Brian), Robert Jr., Davena, Kyle, Jesse, Dustin, Chace, Colbie, Noah, Benjamin; and a grandson.
Larger than life, strong-willed, humorous, and known for giving the biggest hugs, Robert carried a presence that filled any room. He loved fishing and found solace in the quiet of the outdoors. He was magnificent in the kitchen, creating memorable meals from simple ingredients, but he was equally extraordinary with his hands. Among his proudest achievements was helping build their New York home from the ground up, a lasting symbol of his strength, resourcefulness, and devotion to those he loved. We pray he now rests in God's grace and eternal peace - perhaps with a never-ending cooler, endless fish on the line, and a table always elegantly set - while lovingly watching over the family he was so proud of.
May his memory be eternal.
Mortem, Vince, Virtute
