Nassau- Samuel E. "Sammy" Simmons, III, 65, of Nassau, passed away peacefully at home on May 23, 2025. Born in Hudson, he was the son of the late Samuel Jr. and Lolita Simmons. Sammy was a self employed contractor who took great pride in his work. He not only worked for his clients, completing their projects with the upmost care, but also became friends with them along the way. He was a very social person who always had a smile on his face. He had a special place in his heart for Gail and Maggie, "his girls." Sammy enjoyed hunting, fishing and golf, but most of all loved to see a car pull in the driveway carrying someone who was coming to visit. He lived life to the fullest and enjoyed every moment spent with his friends and relatives hanging out at the "Cable Table." He also had a soft spot in his heart for all of his pets.
Sammy is survived by his loving wife, Gail (Flemings) Simmons; daughter, Maggie Simmons; brother, Tony (Kim) Simmons; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Lisa Simmons.
Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Sammy's life on Tuesday, May 27 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at Lyons Lake, 307 Lyons Lake Road, Nassau, NY 12123.
Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741.
