Scott T. "Scooter" Miller, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on May 26, surrounded by his family. He was 70. Thanks to the compassionate support of Hospice, Scott was able to remain in the comfort of his home, surrounded by the people he loved most.
Scott faced Lewy Body Dementia with courage and grace, supported every step of the way by those who loved him.
Born to Harold T. Miller and Diana (Hanrahan), both deceased, Scott grew up with the values of kindness, loyalty, and quiet strength that shaped his life.
Over the years, Scott built a solid and respected career. He began his working life with A. S. Crisafulli Plumbing and Heating, continued his trade with EP Larson Heating, and ultimately found his long-term professional home with the Town of Nassau Highway Department, where he worked faithfully until his retirement. His strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to help others earned him the respect of colleagues and community members alike.
Known affectionately as Scooter, Scott touched the lives of everyone who knew him with his warmth, humor, and gentle spirit. He had a lifelong love of playing the drums to soft rock music, finding joy in the rhythm and the escape it brought. He also loved riding Harley-Davidson motorcycles, embracing the freedom of the open road.
Above all, Scott cherished his family. The true joy of his life was being a father and a grandfather-roles he embraced wholeheartedly. His daughters and grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Papa," were the light of his life and the source of his greatest pride.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn (Durie) Miller, and their two daughters, Autumn Kelly and Dara Ritchie. Autumn is married to Tim Kelly, and together they blessed Scott with two grandchildren, Timothy and Addison, who brought him endless joy. Dara is married to Cody Ritchie, and they are the parents of Raelynn, Scott's cherished granddaughter whose smile could brighten any day. Scott is also survived by his siblings, Donna Stevens and Garrett Miller, and was predeceased by his brother, Bryan Miller.
His family will forever hold his memory close, carrying forward the love, strength, and gentle spirit he shared so freely.
In keeping with Scott's wishes, there will be no formal service. Instead, a Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on June 19, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Earlton Hill Campground & RV Park, 594 Medway-Earlton Rd., Earlton, New York 12058, (518) 731‑2751.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his name to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA.org).
