Tom was raised in Middleburgh, New York. After attending Hudson Valley Community College he joined the Navy in 1967. He worked for General Electric as a designer for over 40 years before retiring in 2008. He was a Lutheran who took pride in saying grace at holiday family dinners. Tom really enjoyed being a part of the Onrust project building to replicate the first Dutch Ship from 1614. His contributions included carpentry work, complex rigging, installing intricate plumbing, solving electrical issues and crewing on the ship, as an experienced Navy veteran and GE engineer, Tom always found a solution! His passion for model trains was second to none. Other hobbies included hunting, boating, golf, square dancing, and most recently tending to his pond and fish in his backyard, a pastime that brought him great joy and peace.
Affectionately known as "TomKat", Tom and his devoted wife Kathy shared an inseparable bond. They traveled extensively and were deeply involved in the Veteran community. Tom would do anything for anyone. He especially liked to "fix" things, even if it was brand new, he would "re-design" it. He will be immensely missed by his three beloved cats, Topnotch, Bender and Bookie. He will also be missed by his adored granddog Miss Daisy who loved him so.
Tom will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, and deep devotion to his family, friends, and community. His warm presence and generous spirit will remain forever in the hearts of those who were touched by him.
